Ruby Mayrene Scott Fisher, age 82, a former resident of Roxana, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 6:30 PM at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She was born December 27, 1932 in Decaturville, Tennessee. She was one of seven children born to Willie Lee and Arkie Delphia (Johnson) Hamm.
Ruby worked at various restaurants and retired from Key Industries in Peoria. She enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger. Her beautiful green eyes and compassionate heart will never be forgotten. She loved going to yard sales and thrift shops. She enjoyed life and loved her large extended family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her three children – Donald (Verla) Scott of Bartonville, Wayne Scott and Melanie Gordon of Pekin, and Janice (Joseph) Zinkan of Bethalto; her three stepchildren – Troy and Kara Fisher of Godfrey and Michelle and Chris Fisher also of Godfrey; her grandchildren – Tracy Cato, Joseph Zinkan, Terri Branson and her fiancé Martin O’Brian, Jason Clark, Matthew Scott and James Hundt; great grandchildren – Zachary and Megan Cato, Emily Cato and her fiancé Bob Miller, Kyley Cato and Cody, MacKenzie Zinkan, Joseph Zinkan, Finley Branson, Xander Clark and Gage Scott; and great-great grandsons – Raylon Cato and Carson Miller.
Ruby is also survived by her brothers – James (Gail) Hamm and Kenneth (Sonja) Hamm; two sisters – Maxine Edgin and Brenda (Larry) Jones, and a sister-in-law Wanda Hamm all from Tennessee; her companion Jim Wilbanks and her little dog, Rusty, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers – Herbert Hamm and Jerry Paul Hamm; an infant great granddaughter – Faith Noel Branson; a sister-in-law – Ann Hamm and a brother-in-law – Earl D. Edgin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2015, at 3 PM at the Glendale United Methodist Church. Rev. Jack Mocaby will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
Visitation will be conducted from 1 PM – 3 PM Thursday at the church.
