Steve Webb elected to national board

Dr. Steve Webb superintendent of Goreville Community Unit School District #1, has been elected to the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Governing Board.  AASA serves as the “national voice for public education and district leadership on Capitol Hill” and is located in Alexandria, Virginia. He begins his term this summer.

Dr. Webb is past-president of the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) and past-president of the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS).

“I am humbled and honored to be able to represent Illinois and our hundreds of thousands of school children in our advocating efforts in Washington, D.C.”  Webb stated. “I certainly appreciate the enormity of national politics, but I believe that should have no place in any discussion regarding what is best for children in our local communities – that should be a local decision and I hope to relay that message early and often.”

IASA executive director Dr. Brent Clark says Webb is an “obvious choice for our state to send to represent us as he has such a practical common-sense approach to issues that is much needed on the state and national education scene.”
