Roger D. Morris, age 59 years, a resident of Huntsville, Alabama and a former resident of Vienna, passed away Sunday evening, May 17, 2015, at 10:11 PM at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Roger was born April 11, 1956 in Marion, Illinois. He was the son of Cletis L. and Marjorie (Taylor) Morris.
Survivors include: his sister – Starla Davis and her friend George Miley of Edwardsville; a niece – Shawna (Christopher) Morrison of Collinsville; a nephew – Dustin (Brittni) Davis of Worden; an aunt – Jean (Clarence) Cox of Vienna and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Roger was a 1974 graduate of Vienna High School. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Engineering from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Tullahoma. Roger had been employed for several years as an electronic engineer by Radiance Technology in Huntsville, Alabama.
Roger was a member of the Simpson Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, tending his wildflowers and feeding birds. Roger also enjoyed working on home improvement projects.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, May 25, 2015, at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor David Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery near Simpson.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, May 24, 2015, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
