Elaine Foster, of Goreville, passed from this earth on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2015. She was 93 years old.
She entered this life on August 5, 1921 in Salem, Richland County, IL being the daughter of Lafayette Ivan McCarty and Edna Evelyn Bowers McCarty. On June 4, 1944, she married Joseph Simpson Foster whom she was married to for over 66 years until his passing in 2010.
Elaine leaves behind her son Alan Foster and special daughter in law, Jan (Richey) Foster, two grandchildren, Michelle (Foster) Brown and husband Ed Brown and Jimmy Joe Foster and wife Ashley, four great grandchildren, Haylee and Seth Brown and Ryne and Della Foster, and special friends Mary Jane Henley and daughters Gayla, Cindy, Ginger and Kerri.
Alongside Bob Cruse, she was the first employee of Goreville State Bank. She enjoyed employment there for 34 years, holding the position of Head Teller until her retirement at age 74.
She was always up to date on fashion in clothing and jewelry. She took great pride in looking fashionable at all times. Elaine’s hobbies included ballroom dancing, cooking and baking, reading and shopping.
She was a member of Goreville Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Services will be at 11am on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville, with visitation from 9am until the funeral hour. Reverend R.G. Null will officiate.
