Lady Eagles compete in Marion Invitational

By Mike Kolb

Marion High School held it’s annual Marion invitational basketball tournament, with the Lady Eagles as one of the participating teams.  They faced Herrin Friday evening, losing the game 58-34.

The Lady Eagles faced a very stout defense from Herrin’s squad. What gave them the most trouble was Herrin’s rebounding.  Coach James Prevallet noted before the season that he wanted a fast paced tempo, and when the Lady Eagles had the chance to move up and down the court quickly they excelled.

The ladies were able to draw fouls and get to the foul line often when they ran the court.  It was a tough game against a very talented squad. While they were unable to secure the win on Friday, they showed just how dangerous of a team they could be when they played the game their way.
