Marjorie Irene Pirtle, age 62 years, a resident of rural Ozark, passed away Sunday morning, August 31, 2014, at 5:39 a.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Marge was born July 22, 1952 at the family farm in Johnson County. She was the daughter of Sollie and Mary (Johns) Vinson.
On June 16, 1984, Marge was united in marriage to Jerry E. Pirtle at Blytheville, Arkansas. He survives.
Other survivors include: her children – Amanda Christine Pirtle of St. Louis, Missouri and John Wesley Pirtle of Ozark; a sister – Nancy (Jim) Lewis of Creal Springs; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many dear friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents.
Marge was a graduate of the Marion High School. She received her Bachelor Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1973. Marge earned her Masters Degree in Library Science from S.I.U. in 1986.
Marge was a lifelong educator. She taught second grade at the New Simpson Hill School for approximately 30 years prior to her retirement in 2007. Marge also enjoyed working alongside her husband Jerry in the operation of their family farm.
Marge attended the Ozark Baptist Church and was a former member of the Creal Springs United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making cross-stitch handcrafts and quilt blocks.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, September 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor David Michael Webb and Pastor Ed Hoke will officiate.
Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery, near Ozark.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the funeral home.
The family requests that those attending the visitation and funeral please dress in casual and comfortable attire.
