Gertrude was born January 18, 1923 in Vienna, Illinois. She was the eldest of eight children born to Loren & Freda (Hester) Ford.
On December 25, 1940, Gertrude was united in marriage to Everett L. “Bud” Brown in Jackson, Missouri. Together, they enjoyed over 66 years of marriage prior to Bud’s passing on December 13, 2007.
Gertrude is survived by: her children – Carolyn & Bill Lawrence of Ozark, Connie & Frank Faulkner of Smithland, Kentucky, Terry & Fay Brown of Goreville, Jeff & Laura Brown of Ozark, and Angie & Kris Ralph of Burna, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren – Donald, Daniel, Sue Ellen, Mike, Michelle, Jennifer, Wade, Denise, Nathan, Heather, Dillon, and Sequoyah; 13 great grandchildren – Lori, Justin, Aaron, Matthew, Addie, Bradley, Tyler, Brianna, Jessica, Colton, Chance, Austin, and Kameron; and 1 great-great grandson – A.J.; 3 brothers – Robbie & Marietta Ford and Ralph & Ella Ford all of Vienna, and Bill Ford of Anna; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by: 2 brothers – Loren Ford, Jr and his wife Barbara and Donald Ford; 2 sisters – Wilma Brown and her husband Dave and Betty Ann “Sue” Phillips; and a sister-in-law – Ruth Ford.
Gertrude was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church. Gertrude enjoyed spending time reading.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, September 18, 2014, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Albert Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
