Max E. Simmons – Obituary

Max E. Simmons, age 75, a native of Ozark, Illinois, passed away Monday morning August 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. (EST) at the Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida.

Max was born August 27, 1938 in the Goreville Township (Johnson County) Illinois. He was the son of John E. Simmons and Veneta (Hudgens) Simmons.

Max is survived by:  his children – Kip Simmons and Sheryl Simmons both of Munster, Indiana; his girlfriend – Kathy Russell of Bradenton, Florida; 2 brothers – Jon A. (Jean) Simmons of Vienna and Gary Simmons of Ozark; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by: an infant son, Roger Simmons; a brother – Guy B. Simmons; and a sister-in-law – Sheilah Simmons.

Max had been employed as a machinist in the Steel Manufacturing industry and working in Youngstown, Indiana.

Max was an avid sports enthusiast.  He loved golfing and would sometimes play 7 days a week.  Max was also a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery, near Ozark.

Visitation will be conducted from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
