Louise was born February 23, 1922 in Creal Springs, Illinois. She was the fifth of seven children born to Isaac Levi Moore and Pearl Ann (Faulkner) Moore.
On January 12, 1939, Louise was united in marriage to Edgar Henry at Jackson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2011.
Louise is survived by: her daughters – Barbara Gamble of Anna and Shirley Engmann of Arlington Heights; 8 grandchildren – Laura (Karl) Magnus, Tracey (Larry) Cipriani, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Knickrehm, Sandra (Carl) Patrick, Carol (Loran) Hoffman, Marianne Guskos, Kathleen LeMay, and Leslie McDonald; 12 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister – Betty Jane Jolgren of Bourbonnais; a brother – Herbert Leon Moore of Anna; a grandson-in-law – Ron Sirotzki; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by a granddaughter – Ellen Sue Sirotzki; 3 brothers – Frela Lloyd Moore, Clyde “Junior” Moore, and William Ernest Moore; a sister – Lela Mae Hurley Goddard; and 2 sons-in-law – Richard Engmann and Bob Gamble.
Louise and Edgar made their home on the northwest side of Chicago, where she had been employed in the bookkeeping department of Carson International, who operated all of the food and beverage concessions in O’Hare Airport in Chicago for many years. Additionally, Louise had the signature distinction of being the first woman hired by McDonalds Corporation, as the restaurant chain was in its infancy in the Chicago area.
Following their retirement, Edgar and Louise returned to Southern Illinois in 1980.
Louise enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour western novels. Edgar and Louise also enjoyed traveling. They particularly enjoyed visiting the western United States.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
