Tom Cullum, age 74, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Thursday morning, April 17, 2014, at 11:45 AM at his home in Vienna.
Tom was born July 6, 1939 in Hardin County Illinois. He was the son of Hal Cullum and Edith (Craig) Cullum.
Tom is survived by: his sister Betty (Fred) Heaton of New Burnside, Illinois; nephews – Frederick Heaton, Eugene Cullum, David Cullum, and Craig Cullum; nieces – Betsy Chaney, Lisa Anderson, Tammy Cullum, Bobbie Sue Cullum and Dana Cullum; great nieces – Katie Heaton and Taylor Lowry; as well as cousins, including Brenda & Porter Latham and Laverne Lampley; other relatives and many friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents – Hal Cullum and Edith Simmons; his stepfather – Floyd “Shorty” Simmons; and a brother – Bobby Joe Cullum.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of Vienna High School. He had also received a certificate of completion from a highway engineering program. Tom was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post in Anna. He was also a member of the Anna Moose Lodge. Tom was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church.
Tom was employed at the Vienna Correctional Center, where he retired with the rank of Lieutenant.
Tom enjoyed playing cards and the lottery.
Funeral services will be held Monday evening, April 21, 2014, at 6 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Visitation will be conducted from 5 PM – 6 PM Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
