Shawnee Mass Transit District (SMTD) broke ground Wednesday afternoon, April 9, 2014, for their new 10,000 sq. ft. administrative and maintenance facility to be constructed in Johnson County 2000, Inc.’s technology park located on the east side of Vienna.
Construction of the $2.2 million project is expected to get underway soon and to be completed in early 2015 that will bring many jobs to Johnson County.
Funding for the project comes from Federal ARRA funds, Illinois’ Jobs Now Grant, and contributions from Johnson County 2000, Inc., Johnson County and the City of Vienna.
The expansion project began in 2009. With hard work of the local community, it is finally becoming a reality.
