Donald G. Kerley, age 75, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, at 9:20 AM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
Donald was born July 14, 1938 on the family farm near Simpson, Illinois. He was the son of Orlan and Lassie (Shrum) Kerley.
Donald was united in marriage to Carol Taber on June 29, 1962 at West Vienna, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include: his daughters & sons-in-law – Sherri (Ty) Ross and Beth (Mark) Elliott all of Vienna; 6 grandchildren – Kassie, Cory, Cady, Kodee, Kelsi, and Levi; 2 brothers – Rillis Kerley of Vienna and Roy Kerley of Simpson; 3 sisters – Faye Kerley of Metropolis and Letha Breeden and Wilma Murphy both of Vienna.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by: a brother – Otis E. Kerley; a Sister – Frances Kerley; and 2 infant sisters – Betty Lou and Millie Florine.
Donald was a 1956 graduate of Vienna High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960 and had been an associate member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222.
Donald was employed from 1966 until his retirement in 1996 at the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center. He served as farm foreman and also worked in the veterinary medicine department.
Donald was a former member of the New Simpson Hill School Board. He enjoyed farming and fishing.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Bud McDannel and Brother David Faulkner will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery near Simpson. Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Monday, April 14, 2014, at Bailey Funeral Home.
