Frankie was born October 14, 1937 in Osceola, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Walter and Irene (Jones) Covington.
Frankie was united in marriage to Vernon F. Taylor on September 19, 1954 in Heafer, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2004.
Survivors include: her children – Deborah Ann (Arthur) Capogreco of Herrin, Illinois, James Robert (Lori) Taylor of Vienna, Illinois, Brenda (Robert) Hamp of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Violet (David) Treat of Mattoon, Illinois; 13 grandchildren – Amber (Scott) Tite, Sarah (Matt) Smith, Emily Carter (her fiancé Victor Hargis), Jamie (Keith) Short, Angela (Coy) Girtman, Amy (Gary) Little, Alicia Taylor (her fiancé Josh Walker), Jeremy Taylor, Paul (Dara) Thorne, Shawna Hamp (her fiancé Kyle Brasher), Robert Nicholas Hamp, Brandon Lee (Crystal) Treat, and Brittany (Brandon) Russell; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters – Peggy Lee Marter of Marion, Arkansas and Martha Jean McClure of New Albany Mississippi; and a dear friend, Diana Funk, whom Frankie loved as a daughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frankie was preceded in death by: a brother – Walter Franklin Covington, Jr., a sister – Sue Marter, and a dear friend, Barbara Rose, whom Frankie loved as a daughter.
Frankie was a C.N.A. and had worked as a in-home health provider. She later worked in the laundry at the Hillview Health Care in Vienna prior to her retirement.
Frankie was a member of the Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Simpson. She had a zest for life and enjoyed many activities, including making hand crafted crochet items, flower gardening, reading and fishing. Frankie is also fondly remembered for her love of shopping. She particularly enjoyed visiting Wal-Mart, the Vienna Dollar General Store, and the Vienna Ministerial Alliance Thrift Store along with family and friends. Frankie especially cherished her family and was most happy spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 12 noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Michael Tetmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery, near Simpson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
