Susie J. Robinson, 88, of Simpson (the Flatwoods community), passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 30, 2013, at 12:10 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Susie was born January 19, 1925 in Trenton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Harvey B. White and Flora “Clydee” (Westbrook) White.
Susie was united in marriage to Clyde M. Robinson on May 30, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. A story that has been retold by the family through the years, is that during the car trip from Marion, IL to Cape Girardeau to be married, Clyde and Susie had 13 flat tires and didn’t arrive at the Justice of the Peace office until almost midnight. Together, Clyde and Susie enjoyed almost 71 years of marriage.

14 Grandchildren: Ron Zderad, John Hall, Matt Hall, Carol Bennett, David A. Hill, Ashley Fox, Jessica Steele, Courtney Zimmer, Ryan Davis, Drew Wilkins, Casey Wilkins, Tylir Buie, Brooklyn Buie and Wes Buie.
15 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca A. Smith, and two brothers, Robert White and Harvey White, Jr.
Susie was employed as a Health Care Technician 5 at the Choate Mental Health Center in Anna, IL She retired in the early 1990’s after approximately 30 years of service.
Susie was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church. She loved music and singing. Together, Susie and Clyde visited many area churches sharing music. They had also made a CD of their music.
Susie was an avid fiction reader. She enjoyed collecting shoes, caring for her animals, and sewing. Susie was a talented seamstress and even had cut patterns out of newspaper. She cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Ed Krantz and Pastor Don Meeks will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
