Frank Nutty

Frank Nutty, age 79 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, September 1, 2012, at 12:15 AM at V.A. Hospice Community Living Center (CLC) in Marion, Illinois

Frank was born July 15, 1933 in the Samoth community in Massac County Illinois.  He was the son of John Howard Nutty & Beatrice “Bea” (Veach) Nutty.

Frank was united in marriage to Judy (Sanders) Owen on Valentines Day, February 14, 1981, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  She survives.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, John Howard “Junior” Nutty.

To assist in the family produce business, Frank attended grade school and high school in both Vienna, as well as Pompano Beach, Florida.  He was a graduate of the Vienna High School and also attended Southern Illinois University.

Frank volunteered for the U.S. Army and served from 1953-1955.  He was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

Frank was a consummate businessman, entrepreneur, and self employed contractor.  He was the owner and operator of Frank Nutty, Inc.  He was also a founding partner and co-owner in a number of business ventures, including: Johnson County Asphalt, K.N.P. Construction Group, the St. Louis Bridge Co., General Contracting Co., and Energy Exploration.  Frank’s skill and hard work helped to shape these businesses into successful and productive companies.  Additionally, Frank developed the Lake Thunderhawk recreation area and operated it from 1977 until his retirement in 1997.

Frank was a former member of the Masonic fraternity and the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Ainad Temple).  He was also a member of Associated General Contractors and a member of the Commander’s Club for the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.).

In his youth, Frank, along with his family, attended the Vienna First United Methodist Church.  Later, Frank and Judy attended the Ozark Baptist Church as well as the Reynoldsburg Church.

Frank enjoyed a number of outdoor activities, including bird hunting, jeep and A.T.V. riding.  For 15 consecutive years, Frank and a group of family and friends traveled to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado to enjoy A.T.V. riding and good fellowship.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, September 4, 2012, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.  Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail.

Visitation will be after 5 PM Monday, September 3, 2012, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
