Mary E. Osman

Mary E. Osman, 97, of Cypress, died at 9:20AM on Monday, August 27, 2012 at her residence.

She was born February 23, 1915 to John Calvin and Ora Lucinda (Peeler) Sowers in Cypress, Il. She married Harry Osman on February 5, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2000.

Mary was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years.   She served as Post Master at Cypress, Il from 1936 to 1946 and then as clerk until mid 1960’s. She enjoyed painting to pass time.

She is survived by 1 son, Phil ( Linda) Osman of Cypress; 1 grand-daughter, Amy (Bart) Hileman of Jonesboro; 1 grandson, Jeff (Emma) Mears of Vienna; 5 great grandchildren, Jordan, Chasey, Dusty, Mandy, and Kennadi; 3 great great grandchildren, Audrey, Gracie, and Mallory; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Cleta Larrinus; infant brother, John Sowers and brother, Edison Peeler.

Visitation will be held at 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro and Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Bethany Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery at Cypress.

Memorial contributions can be made to Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi and will be accepted at the funeral home.
