Hallie Mae Hinkle, 94, of Dongola, died at Union County Hospital in Anna on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 11:27 a.m.
She was born on April 16, 1918, the daughter of Elzie and Cora Little Johnson.
She married Alvin Hinkle on Aug. 20, 1938. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1984.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She worked in dietary at City Care of Anna. She also worked many years on and off the family farm, but the job she enjoyed most was her last,
“Taking Care of Old People.” She was also a Tupperware dealer for over 30 years.
She is survived by four sons, James (Jim) Ronnie (Lynell) Hinkle of Dongola, Bennie Wayne (Jean) Hinkle of Dongola, Norman Dennie (Elsie) Hinkle of Buncombe and Lonnie Eugene (Jolene) Hinkle of Dongola; a special daughter, Prima (Phil) Slade of Yuba City, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Johnson of Oak Lawn; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with the Rev. Charles Duckworth officiating. Interment followed in Hinkle Cemetery.
