Deadline approaching to submit historic photo

A Pictorial History of Johnson County – Second Edition, 2012, The Bicentennial Year

Anyone wishing to submit historic photos for the pictorial history book being published by The Vienna Times should be doing so soon.

The deadline for photo submissions is April 26. Design and layout of the book will begin in early May.

The newspaper office has received hundreds of great historic photos for the book, A Pictorial History of Johnson County – Second Edition, 2012, The Bicentennial Year. It is being produced in commemoration of Johnson County’s bicentennial year. The 128-page hardback book will be available later this summer.

The newspaper office has received hundreds of great historic photos for the book. Publisher Lonnie Hinton said he is pleased with the response and interest shown so far in the second edition book.

“We have many valuable pictures so far, each one a true artifact of Johnson Countys past,” Hinton said. “It will be a real challenge determining which photos will be published, due to the response.”

Hinton said he is still wanting more pictures from the smaller communities in the county. “I have not received very many pictures of Belknap, Buncombe, Grantsburg, New Burnside, Ozark or Tunnel Hill areas, yet. I hope to have more submissions from these areas within the next two weeks.”

A photo submission form and an order form for the book can be found inside this issue.

Pre-orders are still being taken at $30 per book, plus $4.50 shipping for those unable to pick up the completed book.

First edition reprint is underway

Due to popular demand, the first edition of A Pictorial History of Johnson County is now on the press.

The 1993 hardback pictorial was produced by The Vienna Times, then-publisher, Don Sanders. The original 500 copies sold out fast. Since that time, hundreds of people have requested a reprint.

The 128-page softback reprint will be available in May at a price of only $24. The book can be shipped for an additional $4.50. An order form is printed inside this newspaper.
